How it works

Where the number comes from.

The big number is your budget minus what you’ve spent and the bills still due. The bar under it shows all three.

Left to spend after bills

$492.02

$1,888.99 spent, plus $18.99 of bills due, plus $492.02 left, makes the $2,400 budget.

With room to spare, you see only the number.

With under 15% left, a label says you’re running low.

Once you go over, the label turns coral.

Log what you spend.

Type the amount and pick a category. Five categories cover most things, and you can add your own.

Adding is always one tap away, with income right beside it.

Budget the way you’re paid.

Pick the calendar month, or every week or two from your payday. If you switch, Clair works out your budget for the new period. Bills count in the period they fall due.

Spending on the card is already in your Spent figure.

Pay the card off in one tap.

Card spending counts as soon as you log it, but leaves your balance only when you pay the card. Match your balance to your bank once, and from then on it follows what you log.

Check it without opening the app.

Widgets for the Home Screen and Lock Screen show what’s left to spend.
