What Clair keeps, and where
Clair keeps what you enter: your spending and income, bills, categories, budget, balance and settings. It’s stored on your iPhone, in Clair’s own storage. It’s never sent to us or to anyone else.
What we collect
Nothing. Clair has:
- no account or sign-in
- no connection to your bank
- no analytics, advertising or tracking
- no third-party code that collects data
We can’t see your data, so we can’t share or sell it.
Network access
Clair makes no network requests and works entirely offline. Changing currency only relabels your amounts; no exchange rates are fetched.
Backups
Clair’s data is included in your iPhone’s own backups, so it comes back when you restore or move to a new iPhone. If you back up to iCloud, the backup is held in your iCloud account under Apple’s terms and privacy policy. If you back up to a computer, it stays on that computer. We have no access to either.
Widgets
To show what’s left to spend, Clair saves a short summary, such as “$492 left”, in storage on your iPhone that only its own widget can read. It doesn’t leave your phone.
Apple
Downloading Clair from the App Store, and any crash reports or usage statistics you choose to share with app developers in your iPhone’s settings, are handled by Apple under Apple’s privacy policy.
This website
This website uses no cookies, analytics or tracking, and loads nothing from other sites. The company hosting it may keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses, to run the service.
Deleting your data
In Clair, go to Settings and choose Erase all data, or delete the app. Copies already in your backups stay there until those backups are replaced or deleted.
Children
Clair collects no personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date. If Clair ever starts collecting data, this policy will say so first, and so will the App Store privacy label.
